I feel you. The people who were last in my apartment took out a (albeit tiny crappy) tub to make a walk in shower. If I ever hit the big time and get to move into a huge floor-through somewhere, a soaking tub and a separate shower are happening.

My NARROW downstairs bathroom will probably get a walk-in shower once I have the $$, but I'd have to completely reconfigure the entire downstairs -- move plumbing across the house, etc -- to put in a soaking tub. I live in an 1880s house. Indoor plumbing was not part of the original plan.

Ugh RE entire reconfig for a tub even though you are in a house. My bestie in Poughkeepsie is slowly renovating her place. She doesn't have an oven or a range (uses hot plate, InstantPot, and one of those Breville countertop ovens) but she gutted the master bath and had a walk in shower that can fit a baseball team in it and a soaking tub WITH JACUZZI JETS that she can theoretically soak her Kia in if she could get it up the steps.
