I haven't put any tulips in my yard yet. I've only been in this house since April 2022. 2024 is "make the yard pretty" year. In the autumn I'll get some crocus and tulips in. Maybe some alliums, too.
But, there were peonies when I got here, which is a blessing.

It's tricky.
Are you familiar with the CSA (community supported agriculture) model? It's very popular here in Vermont. Mostly vegetable farmers, but I've participated in meat and apple CSAs. And, some flower farmers are doing flower CSAs. That might be a good option for you. Hit me up off-list if you wanna talk more about it. I'm happy to connect you to farmers I know who do CSAs.

Labor relations at "liberal" stores are so damn tricky. My local co-op's workers had to try twice to organize, and the board hired one of the most powerful union-busting law firms in the state. Park Slope's co-op and countless others went through the same mishegas. It's damn hard in c(r)apitalism to meet your basic needs for food and clothing without compromising your ethics.
