I know Sharrock was an uncredited contributer to the sessions. From Pitchfork: "The band, which here features Miles, Corea, Holland, DeJohnette, bass clarinetist Bernie Maupin, and guitarists John McLaughlin and Sonny Sharrock, set up a downbeat-heavy groove that reminds me of Funkadelic's "Music for Your Mother", if much less drugged-out."

That implies that the resonance with music is individuated, and each music comes from the moods of a time making their way to music. If that's so, then we'd have to say that time itself quivers in a whole range of moods? Some of them make it to music with which some of us resonate, others not so much.

I like some of their old old stuff - Paint It Black, etc. I feel like after a certain point, they started sounding like a generic rock band

I remember Nan Goldin's work being always unflinching, honest, and getting universal through the personal. I once met someone she had pictured, and it weirdly wasn't weird, because Goldin never faked

I dig the early Rollings, up to the "Beggar's Banquet" album roughly. Even though they were mainly imitative blues/R&B rock. Then I tired of the rich rockstar junky clown stuff around the time of "Let It Bleed." But there was even good later music.

Peanut Butter all over Ireland ... even most wee towns have a "Health Food Store" for good brands and most/all biggish supermarkets have a "Health Food" aisle with good stock..
Barry's and Lyons are the two contenders ... my fav was Hughes, but it disappeared in the late 80s - one suggestion ... loose tea not tea bags ... the bags get the dust ....

I'm sure a big part of why I like that era is due to my dad playing them a good bit when I was growing up.

IMHO, the live album "Get Yer Ya-yas Out" was the Stones' apogee. Were they like any other rock band? Probably. But they did it better than anyone else.

ps .. Loose tea in a pot or measuring jug or anything - not stuffed in a metal tea "thingy" where it does not properly steep .. one heaping teaspoon per mug/person and "one for the pot" if ya want a good cup..also, heat the pot and the mugs too ... also, milk goes after to judge the quantity needed ... Milk before tea is a wonky practice...

No, the dissonance... getting a well-known guy to play homeless because of the roughness of his voice, while the original voice wasn't that rough. I felt like Bryars had stopped listening and let a sick narrative get in the way

I've been around the arts world too long to not feel cynical about the origin story though. Though a young artist with a breakthrough would be the most likely to seek out someone who made it possible. An even mildly successful one, no way
