I did maintenance on radio studios and in the 70s they often had older equipment dating back to the late 50s. But that reel to reel looks just like what was in common use in the early 70s.

Quick search and I can only see info implying this was their studio in the 50s.

I can't take them seriously anymore: a then friend skipped his high school graduation exam to see their farewell tour... in 1990.
And how can they ever top that Monty Python ad?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:06am
Krys O.:

I saw them at Shea Stadium in 1989 for the Steel Wheels tour. It was quite a spectacle especially for 2000 Light Years from Home. The tickets were a gift from a friend. I don't normally go for arena events and my club going days are long gone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am
StringOFperils:

OMG, I hadn't bothered to seek out the Stones album, other than reading about it a bit. That cover is truly deplorable, and a perfect example of how much graphic design in the mainstream music industry has withered since the demise of the LP. That is god-awful.

On the other hand, new and different (more indpendent/less centralized) directions HAVE evolved with the LP's resurrection. Someone should tell the Stones.

Saw The Stones last at Hyde Park for their 50th anniversary show, complete with guest return by Mick Taylor. They were unbelievably good. I actually really like the new single, and am open to the album worth listening to, as well.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:16am
David (in London):

Remember hearing Jagger once talking about how difficult it is to write a new Stones song: after 60 years, whenever someone comes up with a new idea, the band, without even consciously doing it, go 'Oh yes, this is Stones song 8B', and they all lapse into their usual parts. Jagger was saying how difficult it is to fight against that when you've written eight millions songs.
