Well,

"ISO 3166-1 – Codes for the representation of names of countries and their subdivisions – Part 1: Country codes[2] defines codes for the names of countries, dependent territories, and special areas of geographical interest. It defines three sets of country codes:

ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 – two-letter country codes which are also used to create the ISO 3166-2 country subdivision codes and the Internet country code top-level domains.
ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 – three-letter country codes which may allow a better visual association between the codes and the country names than the 3166-1 alpha-2 codes.
ISO 3166-1 numeric – three-digit country codes which are identical to those developed and maintained by the United Nations Statistics Division, with the advantage of script (writing system) independence, and hence useful for people or systems using non-Latin scripts."

If that helps.

Phillippe, hello. One fat hummingbird made its last stop at the feeder yesterday, no doubt now southbound. Three osprey chicks raised and fledged; an immature bald eagle is taking up a perch overlooking the fishing grounds, now that the hyper-vigilante parents are also headed to their winter nesting grounds. Expect the chevrons of Canada geese will be honking their way by overhead in the next few weeks.

love2laf: had a similar experience here in Nova Scotia. When I moved to a town near here in the early 80s, one never saw Canada geese. Over the years since, those walking shit machines have pretty much established themselves in the Annapolis Valley, traveling elsewhere this time of year, but maybe they are just headed to the southwest of the province, so much warmer, usually, than inland.

Alla Pugachova - the Madonna (or Cher if you will) of Soviet pop - and one of the few public figures of significant stature to speak out against the war in Ukraine.

Per WP: "In September 2022, after her husband had been declared a 'foreign agent', she spoke out publicly condemning the war and useless deaths of Russian men who are forced to die for illusory reasons. She also demanded Ministry of Justice to declare her a foreign agent, too:

"I ask to enlist me in the list of foreign agents of my beloved country, because I'm solidary with my husband, an honest, decent and sincere person, a true and incorruptible patriot of Russia which wishes the Motherland prosperity, peaceful life, freedom of speech and an end of the deaths of our men for the illusory goals that make our country an outcast and make life difficult for our citizens."

I grew up in the Niagara region, and even in those balmy climes they didn't stick around in winter. The makers of green cigars have figured out the Great Lakes make great wintering grounds now. Had the joy of a pair of phoebes making a nest in my wood shed, and the horror of the pine marten finding said nest. The parents survived at least.

Sorry, got a call.

The osprey may have left -- haven't seen them in the past few days, ever since I found the shad in my yard. We had a hummingbird this morning and the kingfisher/egrets/herons are still around, and a pair of eagles are flying around, acting like they're the cat's meow. A couple ducks and cormorant. I did catch a big-ass chain pickerel from the dock last night, a little over 20 inches. That was fun

Thanks Will! if you do listen let me know what you catch. From what I recollect (20 years back?!) the movie is a painful watch at times though of course a fascinating historical artifact. With a couple intriguing musical numbers like this one I recalled today... Don't think the youtube I linked to has subtitles though... VHS I watched did except for the songs, as I recall...

To a certain extent, it's the old "jump the shark" conundrum-after a while you wind up repeating themes (how many times can "the most dangerous creature in the universe", or "the threat that will end the universe" get varied? You need a new wrinkle, which means going to more and more extremes.
The friends/family that accompany The Doctor have taken bigger and bigger roles, probably for a similar reason, to get some new ideas into the formula.

I don't totally agree -- reasonably creative writing can work around that, but the S11-13 showrunner didn't have it. Zero imagination. And like Love2Laf said -- way too many companions. Cramming the TARDIS full of companions is especially bad if they're all flat and one-dimensional.

Oh wow. I didn't realize that this was your first time listening, love2laf. I only discovered the Continental Subway recently myself. It's a fun show!
