It was really hot that summer and I think the Hype around Kurt Vile around the time mean that east river outside stage venue (the name escapes me ) was sold out . I saw sonic youth live so many times I can’t complain , but that set was so good , and they played songs I’d never heard them do live before .

I was at that gig - not knowing the significance now ascribed to it, and not thinking too much about the set at the time (as I had some other distractions in my head). The "venue" was temporary I believe, located around where Bushwick Inlet Park is now (Kent at North 9th, plus or minus). Here's some reportage about the gig as such: www.npr.org...

i was an idiot, had just seen SY a year before, and just hung out at the Pencil Factory during most of the show (went by during it for a bit, but it was a zoo, so, I went back to drinking). Did i mention i was an idiot?
