	♥ 4:12pm slugluv1313: walking past the Stonewall Memorial on the way home last night -- all the flags happily waving! growing up in rural/suburban NJ, i do not remember the riots, but i DO remember Time magazine showing up one day with the cover story, "The Homosexual Question" -- this was 1970, so i must have been in 5th grade -- so i asked my Mom, "what IS 'homosexual'?" -- and she totally lost it -- "YOU'RE TOO YOUNG TO KNOW ABOUT THAT!" -- so next time i was at the county library (my Mom never learned to drive, so my Dad would take her to three supermarkets on Saturdays, while my younger sister and i were at Ballet classes -- so i would hang out at the library after class, until she was finished) -- so i looked up "homosexual" there (which is how i learned how to handle anything some dumbass adult thought that i should not know about) -- and when i read the definition, i was like -- "THAT'S IT?!? being attracted to the same sex instead of the 'opposite' sex?!?" -- seriously, the way Time magazine presented it, they had me thinking it was a nuclear meltdown, or something equally apocalyptic/disastrous . . . so, while i am glad that we have come a long way in the past 50+ years, i also know that the struggle for acceptance, inclusivity, etc. still exists, and we still have a lot of work to do 😺😺

	♥ 4:12pm slugluv1313: walking past the Stonewall Memorial on the way home last night -- all the flags happily waving! growing up in rural/suburban NJ, i do not remember the riots, but i DO remember Time magazine showing up one day with the cover story, "The Homosexual Question" -- this was 1970, so i must have been in 5th grade -- so i asked my Mom, "what IS 'homosexual'?" -- and she totally lost it -- "YOU'RE TOO YOUNG TO KNOW ABOUT THAT!" -- so next time i was at the county library (my Mom never learned to drive, so my Dad would take her to three supermarkets on Saturdays, while my younger sister and i were at Ballet classes -- so i would hang out at the library after class, until she was finished) -- so i looked up "homosexual" there (which is how i learned how to handle anything some dumbass adult thought that i should not know about) -- and when i read the definition, i was like -- "THAT'S IT?!? being attracted to the same sex instead of the 'opposite' sex?!?" -- seriously, the way Time magazine presented it, they had me thinking it was a nuclear meltdown, or something equally apocalyptic/disastrous . . . so, while i am glad that we have come a long way in the past 50+ years, i also know that the struggle for acceptance, inclusivity, etc. still exists, and we still have a lot of work to do 😺😺
