I recently read a book by Marina Bokelman & David Evans about their blues research in the South in the summers of 1966 & 1967. They were friends with Al "Blind Owl" Wilson, who often crashed at their place. Because of that friendship they were at Monterey to see Canned Heat and had their minds blown by Hendrix, etc.
