Exactly. It was usually the crew that supplied the exuberant applause and cheers. They used to do that on Hank Williams' Health and Happiness Shows and many other Southern radio shows.

Used to see the Grand Ole Opry on cable TV in the 90s and early 2000s. Eddy Arnold would still be in good voice in his appearances. So was Little Jimmy Dickens.
