doctorjazz, didn't we first meet at a Sex Mob show at The Falcon during the early days of the pandemic?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
doctorjazz:

↳ Irene Trudel @12:28
That's correct, one of the few pandemic shows I got to (had to be outdoors at that point). Modeski played with them at that show. (brought the fam, they loved the show as well! Had taken older daughter, RebeccaJazz, to see Sex Mob when they had Nels Cline playing with them. He pretty led them very far out, RebeccaJazz wasn't so happy at that show, but the Falcon show made up for it).

So sad that Nicole Mitchell left the Univ. of Pittsburgh for the Univ. of Virginia. I've heard from a few sources that Pitt was ultimately unsupportive of her vision for the Jazz Department. Which is an absurdity. Her arrival here was deeply necessary .

Stork and Irene, I think of it like this; for all you guys do I would be overjoyed to buy you a tall glass of Glen Passaic and a taco or two. But given that you’re on the other side of the country/globe, a small pledge to the station seems a fair substitute. Thank you for all the time, energy and dedication you and everyone at WFMU put in. We all appreciate it more than you know.

Stork, it's funny you mentioned digital audio tape. I was trying to rip my DAT of the All-Bergen County Belching Semifinals of 1998 to 256-bit FLAC the other day when the cassette shot out of the deck and hit me between the eyes. When I came to, this recipe was ringing in my ears:

Pledge Driver
1/3oz Glen Passaic
1/3oz orange juice
1/3oz prune juice

Typically consumed in sets of six, this fruity shot is guaranteed to overcome pledge anxiety, loosening purse strings and sphincters at the same time. To prepare, line up six shot glasses, and pour the ingredients into each, first the orange juice, then the Glen Passaic, and the prune juice on top. The acids in the orange juice activate the terpenes and PCBs in the Glen Passaic, while the prune juice weights the volatiles in place. Bend your ear to the radio. Each time the host says "Pledge," take a shot. By the last, the station will have gained some much-needed funding, while you'll have a new t-shirt to wear on your way to the restroom, and maybe even some music to listen to while you're there.
