Sorry to hear about the F100, that’s a real drag. Been there with some of my old favorite cameras. More convinced than ever going forward to stick with the older, all mechanical ones. My Minolta SRT will survive the upcoming ice age, built like an Egyptian pyramid. Glad you still have the FM2 tho! Shoot ‘em while ya got em.

My photography teacher always said Minoltas were possessed by demons. So I got one of course... and it would do weird stuff like click and pop when I wasn't touching it. It also had a weird grinding noise that nobody could identify... but that was my favorite camera. Always developed the best photos from my demon Minolta LOL

Minolta definitely did things their own way. No question and I think they still are my favorites. 100 percent agree, they do indeed seem to be in possession of some kinda magick. Any time I walk around SF taking street photos, any other camera people scowl, yell scram, etc. But if I’m using the SRT it’s all smiles and hey what’s that ya got there - EVERY TIME. It’s so weird that I’ve stopped wondering why that is and just roll with it.

Zoe - never had a Minolta - but first SLR was a Miranda. It had a mind of it's own. It was so great on many occasions but when I went to Pine Ridge Reservation in SD it blew a gasket and I missed many shots. But it did help make some very memorable ones. (IMHO) Including the mass grave and (now long gone) church at Wounded Knee.
