Dean:

I know that cover. At first I thought it was Cabaret Voltaire, but no.
Avatar 11:32am
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Dean! As you say, it's not Cabaret Voltaire. Here are some clues: It's a French LP, from 1979. It's in the prog vein, I guess, but on the experimental end of things. The words are taken from something by Victor Hugo.
  11:47am
Dean:

Hmmm, not Pulsar. Not Shylock (anyway, they're Swiss).
Avatar 🥁 11:48am
Nick S.:

Hey, Tony! Is it Heldon?
  11:53am
Dean:

Not Heldon, but maybe a Heldon-ish band?
  11:54am

Resembles one of Pinhas' solo albums.

Hi there Tony and all other listeners!
Avatar 11:58am

Hey, Nick! It's not Heldon, or a Pinhas solo. Truthfully, it's a pretty obscure record ... I wasn't really expecting anyone to recognize it.

Totally unknown to me, the mystery record. But the excerpt of the cover evokes something familiar.

I suspect it's an amalgamation of record covers of the same vintage: Pinhas, Ultravox Ha-Ha-Ha!, the black and white of Shylock...

Dean:

Er, "Rudolph." I was thinking of the most famous male ballet dancer of all.
Avatar 1:55pm
Yetz:

Dean - the reason is, Rudolph wasn't in the original "Night before Christmas" poem by C. Clement Moore (1823) which named the other reindeer - Rudolph was created by Robert May in 1939 and added on to the canon.

That's helpful, Yetz, and I ought to have known as much. I used to recite that frigging poem by memory when I was a toddler. But it still doesn't explain the stark logical lapse. Now, if the lyrics were more like "But do you recall the most effective reindeer of all?" then I wouldn't have a complaint.
