That tracks, βrian. We work extensively with a full-service publishing-services company in India. Well, they are multinational. But the composition work is all done in India, in Chennai.

Michael, that's ... a vexed question. E-book files *could* have embedded fonts, but they *usually* don't and instead rely on the fonts built into the reading system, perhaps specifying an order of preference among those (like use the sans serif font if available). You can embed fonts, but then you have to hope the reading system will actually access them, and that varies widely.
