Jiggers  Boys & Girls For Jesus/Zacchaeus   Favoriting Story Time  LP  Jello Biafra: "Paul's nomination for the most demented record of all time is another religious singing ventriloquist record: Jigger's Story Time from Anaheim, California." Paul Major: "I think it's a Firesign Theater-type parody of a Christian record. There are subtle clues scattered throughout,...and when they're talking about taxes, Jigger puts in put in crazu Bronx-accent wind-u[ whistling noises." Jello: "But why would anybody make something like that? I think it was designed for parents to sit down and listen to with their kids, reminiscent of the era Pat Robertson wants to bring back. There are jokes to keep the adults interested, as well as the kids-- the dialogue must be heard to be believed."

Xenogenesis  Side 1   Favoriting seXxenogenesis #1 - I Am That I Am  LP  "Another religious find is Xenogenesis #1 from Florida. The artwork shows an intricate galactic painting with a Star of David and an endless circle of craked eggshells with apple-eating snakes. The liner notes throw all kinds of words, symbols and signs together (like swastikas and peace signs) mixed with phrases like: "equating equilibrium gamma rays of Christ-crystal clear new-nuclear energy of-Revelation 22:1-and he showed me a river of the everlasting water of life clear as crystal coming forth from the throne of God - seat of nuclear reactor power-within the nucleus of an atom... Now in order to obtain your Xenogenesis #2, please send me the price of a carbon 666 atom: $6.66. I'm not going to kid you or beat around the bush; I need a lot of money and workers in order to help everyone on this planet earth since you use money here. Considering there are about 3-1/2 billion people here, can you imagine if each of you only gave me one dollar? That would be approx. 3-1/2 billion dollars. I ask sincerely, humbly: would that be enough if I in turn spend that same one dollar on each of you?" - Paul Major

John Rydgren  The Happening/ Groovin' on a Saturday Night/ Dark Side of the Flower/ The Lord is My Shepard   Favoriting Silouette Segments  LP  "The American Lutheran Church in St Paul, Minnesota, aimed its "Silhouette" series of records at wayward youngsters. One cover, showing a girl in a tiger-striped mini-skirt, proclaims, "It's Rock! It's Religious! It's a Revelation!" The record combines very well-done psych-ploitation movie soundtrack music with religious narrations and guest apperances by everyone from Marvin Gaye to Paul Revere & the Raiders to Peter Tork of the Monkees. The producers had a certain understanding of '60s teen pop culture; a lot of money must have gone into this." - Paul Major

Ron Dilulio & James E. This album is by Ron Dilulio and James E. Kerr, The Death of the World of Now, produced by "the Creation Factory Inc. in association wwith astral projections." [?] Dilulio does the music; it's '60's experimental electronics that would fit well on a Limelight Records release, except this was recorded in 1978. Over eerie, echoey screams and sound effects James Kerr narrates: "A canyon began where man ended, and ended when the moon had stopped...Satan stood on a shelf of rock that shut out over the gorge and surveyed the aftermath of God's destruction. His laughter roared across the depression and echoed off the far walls washing back like waves over the sea of dead... thousands of flickering fires flurrying upward in a luminous background of read and blue. Cyclops monsters and creatures of the inferno swirled in the conglomeration of chimeras and hallucinations as they whirled around the fires, whipping themselves into a fitful fury of an orgy. Now and again a shout of laughter would shatter the night as a reptilian creature heaped the flames of a fire with the deformed body of a slave..." - Jello Biafra

BC Sterrett:

We begin in 10 Mins.
Avatar 1:52pm
Otis:

There was no popcorn and the 3 people working in the lobby were all artists who pressed up records in a run of 100 each with hand-painted cover art. Looks like I'm in the right place!
Avatar 1:56pm
BC Sterrett:

This is the best place for stuff like that! I hope the WFMU record fairs come back soon.
Avatar 1:57pm
Otis:

Me too, we'll meet up at the next one, I'll take the train down.

Great week in Sheena's... Steve Young last night on Kitten and today Paul Major. Fun fun.
Avatar 1:59pm

Oh I know! I wish it was the real Paul Major, it's just his written interview and comments for this show.

Will be a great show BC. Jello & Paul in the stream!

Oh, this one... seXxenogenesis. Wild record, I think you had this one when you visited Montreal and we played in on FP in 2010... I should get that episode out as you play live on it.
Avatar 2:11pm
BC Sterrett:

That's true! We played a good segment of it. This might be the same copy played on Friendly Persuasion.
Avatar 2:12pm
Otis:

I'm going to dig that show out and listen again. Fun!
Avatar 2:13pm
Otis:

I love this, so, unique. That laugh and echo effects on whispered words.
Avatar 2:13pm
BC Sterrett:

This gets my vote for one of the most bizarre records ever made.
Avatar 2:15pm
Otis:

seXxenogenesis. a voice for all time. in what dimension though, that is the question.
Avatar 2:16pm

He loves the Sound of Music, 2001 A Space Odyssey, and keeps talking about dessert.

I want to re-create this entire album with Sheena DJs playing parts when the voice changes from normal to whisper to song to sfx.
Avatar 2:29pm
BC Sterrett:

You could easily do it with Constance :)
Avatar 2:31pm
Otis:

The transcription would take some time but would be worth it. Maybe for a holiday show in the future.
Avatar 2:36pm

That would be an amazing project!
Avatar 2:38pm
BC Sterrett:

Ha, the Donald Duck and Bugs Bunny part!
Avatar 2:38pm
BC Sterrett:

This will be the first time I've ever played this in its entirety over the air.
Avatar 2:38pm
Otis:

I know, ha! You know where this whole album covered live would work the best. A future WFMU record fair performance with FMU DJs. Ha!
Avatar 2:40pm
BC Sterrett:

I agree, that would be amazing
Avatar 2:41pm
BC Sterrett:

I have no idea what he's talking about. So random and sporadic.

Dana turned me on to the Click Kids. I can't remember who, but a reader of the mag found a box of the LPs, like 100 and was selling them dirt cheap 20 years back. I should have bought one.

Paul Major's book is such a fun/read, have to drop a link here, shop.mexicansummer.com...

Reading these books like Paul Major, Enjoy The Experience and even back 25 years to the ISM RE/Search books... I have only discovered about 5% (maybe) of what is written about. I need another 100 years added on to my lifespan please.

For kids who were having typical teenage emotional problems and taking wads of drugs in the early 1970's, stuff of this ilk had the potential to be more mind bending that the Firesign Theater.
